I liked the preview of the book so far. The story starts with Serilda telling a story about about the wild hunt. The wild hunt happens at night where the dead king hunts anyone outside. During the hunt, humans and creatures are supposed to stay inside to avoid being taken. Once they king catches you, you disappear forever without a trace.
Serilda is a likeable character because of her love for her family and her storytelling. She was born with gold in her eyes, therefore everyone thinks she is cursed. She also spins stories from nothing and always tells a lie.
The author describes the lore of Serilda's world through the stories told to children. The stories span from her birth, her mysteries golden eyes, and how her mother is tied to the evil king. The best part of the preview was the stories about the evil king and his wife.
