Fairytales will never get old, they get retold from time to time to suit modern times and no one does a retelling better than Meyer! When I heard Gilded is going to be a retelling of the fairytale of Rumpelstiltskin (with a female lead of course), I knew I had to read it, but I was a little hesitant about how the story would be spun (pun intended). After reading the excerpt I kind of now have a very good idea of how the magic is going to play. The style of writing so far is easy to follow, the characters come and go with only two playing in the main screen. But you know how it is with fantasy, characters get introduced even in the end! The world that Meyer has built is adventurous, not too word dump but also easy to imagine and feel the atmosphere. Mythical creatures and the undead characters are a good touch.
Overall, I enjoyed the first 10 chapters and I’m super excited to get the finished book to complete my reading progress.
