I had high expectations for Gilded, being a big fan of Marissa Meyer's other works The Lunar Chronicles and Renegades. Luckily, it pretty much met them. The story was extremely entertaining and that combined with the enchanting writing made it a hard book to put down. I really liked what the author did with the story of Rumpelstiltskin and I enjoyed the characters that made up this retelling. Serilda was a fresh and likeable main character, and Gild was a nice love interest.
Like I said, the plot was definitely very entertaining, but in my opinion some aspects of it were slightly lacking. I also felt like the world building could have been better and more expansive. While I mainly really liked the characters, they occasionally fell a little flat. The romance was engaging, but not perfect. However, I overall found this a very fun and entertaining read that I would probably recommend.
