The writing definitely sets the tone of a fairy tale retelling and feels lush and vibrant. I've never read a retelling of Rumpelstiltskin and am very intrigued how this version plays out. I found the first impression to be very slowly paced with too much storytelling (literally) by the POV character and feel like the story needed to start much further in with the actual meeting of the demon king and Serilda and the action and danger of the hunt.
