An Enchanting Read

The story draws you in the way classic fairytales do, of children living near forests with frightening tales and of creatures that only exist in myth. Serilda, a young woman who loves to make up stories, encounters such creatures until she's drawn into a corner, and spins a tale to save lives, but her storytelling may have gotten her in trouble.

This book gives me Beauty and the Beast vibes and it's one of my favorite fairytales, although "Gilded" is a retelling of Rumplestiltskin. How will Serilda escape the dark king when she only knows how to spin stories? I want to know what happens next!

I personally don't like the cover, compared to the other books by Marissa Meyer, but I know it's symbolic of how the main character is trapped by gold. I wish the cover was in a similar vein to the original Lunar Chronicles covers. I also don't like the red title, but it may be related to the story--and the eyes in the background are creepy--the cover is dark enough, but adding those eyes makes it even dark and could've been without.

Looking forward to reading more!
