Serilda is girl cursed by the god of lies, and just can't help telling fantastical tales to whomever will listen. Her love for storytelling frequently gets her into trouble, but she goes a step too far when she lies to the Erlking, making her believe she can weave straw into gold.

I absolutely love Serilda! She reads like Anne of Green Gables, but with more darkness and talking back. She is funny, intelligent, stoic, and charming. I loved how her "curse" of lying made her into a master storyteller, a curse she did not seem too upset about.

The world-building in this book is breath-taking. Already we were introduced to a quaint village, a dark forest, magical creatures, and a mysterious palace.

I love a good fairy tale retelling and this one has all the potential to be great!
