Freddy is waiting for a flight when he sees a woman who looks like she is being escorted to a flight to Honolulu. The man's hand on her arm looks too forceful to be anything other than coercion. He leaves when she boards and Freddy isn't as concerned... until he sees her suddenly leave that flight and board another at the last second. Odd, but he is boarding his own flight and moves on.. until he lands and hears that the Honolulu flight blew up, killing everyone on a supposedly full flight that he knows was not entirely full.
Freddy is a private investigator and his firm is hired to investigate the passenger list. He gets to know Anna, the missing woman while trying to track her down.
His past as a fighter gets a lot more space than I cared about, but then the story started adding lots more characters and their stories. Some stories we could have done without or maybe done without as much as was told.
I liked the beginning of the story a lot more than the middle where it did drag a bit due to too many characters and their back stories, but overall a good story. Thank you NetGalley for an advance copy in exchange for an honest review.
