I loved this book!! Like loved it so much, I could not put it down. Nor did I want to. Marlow is one of those main protagonists that is real, flawed and infuriating at times. She makes her choices based on finding the truth, even if it puts her life in danger, time and again. Her need to know what happened to her mother, and keep the people she cares about safe is always her first priority.

Marlow is a cursebreaker, one of the best in Caraza. When Adrius, an old friend, comes to her for help breaking a curse put on him, she cannot say no. But the more she digs, the more she gets tangled up in a far bigger plot. And there are twists around every corner. Every time she thinks she has uncovered a piece of the puzzle, something new comes out that turns the whole story on its axis.

Katy wove such a skilful tale, suffused in mystery after mystery. The world itself is dark, rich and well thought out. The magic is unique, I want to learn more about it. The book is stunning and deliciously dark. I wish I could walk through Falcrest Library, learn about more of its mysteries and the books hidden there. And the ending is one of those cliff hanger types that will not make you too happy, but it is so worth waiting for a sequel!
