Wow. I LOVED this book. It exceeded all of my expectations and absolutely had me wanting more. The magic system is one I have not seen used before, based purely off of curses, and the relationships with the characters were top notch. The use of the fake dating trope was also really well done, that can be a harder one to knock out of the park but this was fantastic.
I really connected with Marlow and kept wanting to know more about her. Not only that but I also was rooting for her, I wanted her to succeed and I got upset when she hit roadblocks. I can’t remember the last time that I connected to a character that well. She is a fighter and is a great heroine on top of this fantastic story.
I was very excited to see that not only is this the first book in a duology (which means I get more of the characters I love) but the next book comes out next year so I won’t need to wait an excruciatingly long time to finish this story line. I love a good duology, something that doesn’t stretch on forever but also gives you a little more than just one book can.
