I loved this book from start to finish. It only took me a few days to finish reading it. I really liked Marlow as the main character and even though the storyline is similar to others in the same genre, the magic component that was added, makes it completely different. The idea of curses, curse breaking, and using cards to use spells is intriguing. The author does a nice job building up everything from the characters' looks and mannerisms to simple things such as the way they talk.

I was at first intrigued by the cover of this book and I still am. It gives nothing away, yet I absolutely love it. I like the colors and the fact that is isn't the same type of cover that fantasy and magic books usually have on the front.

Overall, I would give this book five stars. I would recommend it to others as well. The only problem is that it is the first book in a trilogy. It does end on a cliffhanger as well, but it isn't one that you can't sleep at night because you don't know the answer.
