I'll admit, I did put this book down for a bit of time because I got busy with other books. I was able to do so because in the middle there it got to be a little slow. However, once I picked it back up again, I didn't want to put it down. I read the last half of the book super quickly.
I really enjoyed the book. It did have some things that were easy to predict, but other things kept me guessing. I feel like there is so much that is still unresolved in the story. It kind of ended on a soft cliffhanger. I don't want to wait a year for the next book, I need answers now.
The worldbuilding was really good. We got a good sense on how the magic system worked. It all seemed well-thought out. It was a well-done book. It established everything it needed to, and set up the next book nicely. I do think the ending might have been a little rushed, but I'm not overly upset with it. Certain things could have been drawn out just a smidge more. But it isn't a big deal. I still enjoyed the ending.
