One of my favorite books I've read this year! Totally going on my Best Books of 2023 list. Katy Rose Pool has been an author whose books I immediately place at the top of my TBR since I had the pleasure of reading her debut novel. The only thing I didn't like about this book was the fact that it ended, because I desperately NEEDED MORE!
I loved this unique and exciting magic system with curses and curse breakers at the forefront, and with a magical family hierarchy ruling them all in the background. I even found the romance between Adrius and Marlow to be built up perfectly, which is rare these days in YA fantasy books. I adored how from the very beginning of this book we got a strong sense of this world and where the power lies. This author writes such amazing worlds that I am eager to see where we go next. I cannot wait till I am able to get my hands on the sequel and get the answers I need.
