Do you have a read so many books and not write any reviews of the plot of all of the books start spinning together and when you start trying to write out reviews of those books, you can’t remember what happened one and what happened in a different one? I’ve had so many books lately, that none of them really stand out anymore except for this one. In a world that gives off massive 20s vibes with counterfeit magic and speakeasies, and curses and darkness, this story was enrapturing.
The main character, Marlow, has run away from the elite high crust society and is living among the marshes breaking curses. When someone from her former life comes to her for help, she is thrust back into the elite world.
There is a huge cast of side characters in this book but they never detract from the story telling. The plot is rich and fast paced and never stops. The fake dating, magic, glitz and glamour, and slightly seedy gangs swirl together to create an enticing world that I couldn’t get enough of
