This first look really surprised me. Just looking at the cover and glancing over the synopsis really painted a different picture for me than what the novel actually is. The vibe is very much a noir, murder-mystery vibe. I was very intrigued by it. I am super interested in reading more to see how Marlow's story unfolds. I love the mystery elements that are coming together from page one, and I love the idea of a literal ship yard with a bad guy "pirate" speakeasy. The novel really has a lot going for it so far.
