I wasn't sure what to think about this one. The description pulled me in, but the first bit of chapter one was not what I was expecting. As soon as the action started up though, I was hooked. So many layers of story woven together masterfully! The magic system seems incredibly unique (to me anyway) with curse cards and bits of magic users as black market ingredients. Then there are the gangs that are mentioned and mysterious tattoos. Plus the main character is a detective of some kind with her own personal mystery to solve (her mother's disappearance). I am quite excited to find out what happens next in this book!
