Some of the best books I've read revolve around a character breaking away from the norm or rebelling against the people in charge. That being said, the summary of this book intrigued me and roped me in. The main character, Marlow, chooses to leave the gilded society she was conditioned to stay in for a life of her choosing outside of the society as a curse-breaker. The author also throws in an unsolved murder, and a "fake" love affair with a boy who rejected Marlow the year before. For me, novels that have a large amount of conflict while still spinning a romantic narrative always become a favorite. I'm so excited to read this! I would be more drawn to the book if it had a different cover, as the current animated look makes it feel like a comic book or graphic novel.
