My first impression of this one is that the language is very hard to get into. I did not expect to run into words every other sentence that I didn't understand as an adult reader, let alone in a YA book. I think the overarching concept is fine, YA fantasy is having its moment, but the style definitely detracted from the rest of the story for me.
