As someone with curly hair, I grew up watching my mom spend hours a day with a straightener trying to make hers straight. It always felt like having curly, frizzy hair was more of a curse, than a blessing. So I LOVE to see stories like this where curly hair is encouraged and embraced. I love seeing a story where someone loves their curls and breaks through the misconception that curly hair isn't neat, clean, or "put together."
This is middle grade aged graphic comic book- so older readers may not enjoy it. It's definitely meant for younger individuals. However, it is quite cute, and the art style is adorable and enjoyable.
I think this story has a great message and can be great for those who have curly hair and for those who don't so they can understand a bit more about what it is like. I loved the ending too where it depicted some of the effort that goes into maintaining beautiful, loved curly hair!.
