Marlene has curly hair and she seems to be the only one who doesn’t think that is a problem. She doesn’t understand why she can’t be beautiful the way she is. And you feel her frustration and you feel for her as she is hurt when everyone wants her to be more like someone else. I’m glad you can tell by the cover that she at least starts to stand up for herself. The illustrations are nice and very expressive.
