Marlene is a beautiful young girl whose definition of beauty is being overrun by the society around her. She is spunky and trying to figure out who she is and that hair doesn't determine who a person is. I am excited to discover how Marlene navigates discovering her identity. This is a colorful novel with a positive, hopeful message that I wouldn't hesitate to share with my middle schoolers.
