Frizzy is a graphic novel after my own heart. As someone with hair that is prone to frizz without special brushing and washing, I wish that I had had a book like this to turn to. I was teased mercilessly in middle school for my hair, and I think this book will absolutely speak to a middle grade/YA audience.
The illustrations are gorgeous and striking. I kept scrolling at the end of the first look not even having realized that there were no pages left. It was that gripping! I absolutely devoured it.
I would love to read more to see how Marlene overcomes the struggles with loving herself and her hair. I think this novel is timely and relevant. The cover art is adorable and definitely captures the middle grade aesthetic. I think younger readers and older ones alike will be able to appreciate the message of this graphic novel. I certainly can't wait to dig in further!
