What an important and heartfelt message this graphic novel is sending out there, of accepting yourself as you are, especially when it comes to beauty standards affecting young girls. The story is charming, but the author and artist know just how to be emotionally devastating too, what with how they depict her extended family berating her to the point of her crying and running away. The art compliments the story so well, and I especially love the colors! They're so vibrant and pretty, especially on the cover!
