I really loved the beginning of this story. Marlene is trying to stay true to herself but so much of her family and culture is caught up in what's "proper" including hair. I love that we get to explore Marlene and her growing identity as she navigates these family dynamics and complexities. The fact that we get to do this in a graphic novel format is even better! The artwork is really great and highlights the story in a perfect way.
