I think this is middle grade, which I normally like, but I’m struggling to see where this is going over a whole novel. I get the concept and the positive nature of Marlene accepting herself, but it felt a little repetitive after awhile, like this would be more suitable as a picture book. I suppose it works as a graphic novel.
