The illustrations are adorable and enthralling. However, the text left some to be desired. I understand that this is geared towards a younger audience, but I felt the random Spanish blurbs took away from the story. Lacking a background in Spanish, I had no idea what these parts said and, short of googling the words, could not figure it out based on context alone.
The cover is cute, but the colors used don’t match the rest of the book very well, making the cover look out of place. I feel like the cover should have more blues and purples to better match the rest of the book.
Overall, this book is not for me, as after reading the first look I am confident there is a reason I have not read a graphic novel before. Also, I am not within the target audience. I’m sure some will like this book, but unfortunately it’s just not for me.
