Frankly in Love follows high school senior Frank Li and his tribe of Korean American teenagers who find themselves caught between their immigrant parents outdated traditions and modern Southern California upbringing.

This book was my first foray in Young Adult Fiction and it was a great entry. It had everything a YA book should have - appropriate teenage themes and struggles; and a true coming-of-age story.

Frank finds himself in love with a young non-Korean girl; which is against his parents' rules of only dating Korean-American girls. So he teams up with his fellow Korean American friend Joy Song (who also wants to date a non-Korean boy) and they concoct a scheme to fool their parents and pretend dating each other - as a delicious ruse that doesn't go according to plan.

I really enjoyed this authentic glimpse into Korean-American culture and the struggles of immigrant youth and their attempt to forge their own identity apart from their parents.
