I had zero idea when I picked this up that it was a YA book! So I was pleasantly surprised when I read the synopsis and ultimately IMPRESSED. I did not expect to be taken back with the greatness and development of this book!

I went through all the motions with this book! I was sad and happy, sappy and had (total book pun). I absolutely adored all of the characters, including angsty Frank Li. Each character was uniquely written while maintaining an active role throughout. Frank Li being in love is not the only thing going on though. You would think the book is about high school romances—but it is so much more! We the readers get to experience the correlations and stereotypes of race and privilege. Frank Li and the “Apeys” goes through so many life lessons. I enjoyed reading and learning more about the Korean culture as well! Being a second generation Hispanic, there were definitely similarities to the words spoken from his Mom-n-Dad (the good and the bad). Frankly in Love is book #1 so I look forward to the series.
