I loved Frank Li's story. He struggles with being the son of Korean immigrants, who he feel do not understand him and want to keep him "Korean" while he must try to be "American" to fit in at school. When he falls in love with a White girl from his calculus class, he knows he has to hide it from his parents, so he enlists the help of a fellow "Limbo" to create a fake dating scheme so they can both have the freedom to be who they want. It has so many real elements, from interracial dating to immigrant dreams to loss, grief, and family drama. It took a turn I didn't see coming! I loved Frank as a narrator and think this is completely relatable to so many teens, yet didn't focus on usual YA tropes of cliques and high school drama. This was about family and culture.
