I didn’t have much expectations about this book (I don’t think I had even read the synopsis before I started it). All I knew was the cover was cute and it was all over Instagram #instagrammademedoit
I listened to the audiobook and I loved the narration! For me I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much if I had read the hardcover, the narration did it for me! The narrator does a great job at not just reading it but showing emotion. I felt like I connected with Frank because of the audio narration.
Frank is nerdy, funny, witty but deals with heavy issues. I really enjoyed his coming of age story, the love stories, and his friendship with Q (his best friend). I enjoyed learning more about the Korean culture and the discussions Frank had with his friends about race and being Korean-american.
This story covers important topics like racism, immigration, feeling like you don’t belong in a beautiful way. I’m so glad I read it!
