I loved Frankly in Love.
I was looking forward to reading Frankly in love due to the great hype and the gorgeous cover , especially the fact it depicts Asian family lifestyle accurately.
Frankly in love is a cute contemporary which also dealt with many serious issues.
Frank is Korean , his friend is black while Britt (the girl he's dating) is white. So Frankly in love tackles a lot of issues with racism , society and opportunities without going too serious or losing the tone.
Frank's family is from Korea and he's the first gen Korean - American in his family. The pressure to study with Excellency and dating a Korean girl made it perfectly Asian.
The audiobook is narrated by Raymond J Lee who gives this a great spin with authenticity but I had issues with his voice being so mature and Frank's supposed to be just in school.
-The plot
Frank fake dates Joy song who has a Chinese boyfriend to escape Parent's scrutiny in both sides. Which is fine , until it takes a stupid twist?
-Characters
Besides love life , Frank seems to be a goofy cinnamon roll with love for gaming. He loves his life , studies hard and helps out at his Parent's store. He's a good kid.
Britt , Oh god. If you have followed my progress earlier I said , "Screw Frank , I'll have Britt as my GF". Because Britt is amazing and considerate. I love her.
Joy song , the fake date of Frank .. is the best ♥️♥️♥️ I fell in love with her and instantly connected to her. Her respect for her parents and love for her boyfriend which caused a lot of conflict .. she was a bae.
Even the tiny characters like Frank's parent's kids , their classmates.. David Yoon has done a great job creating and sculpting these characters.
-Ending
I hated the fact all good books come to an end. I loved the ending besides everything happens in the book.
Frankly in love is recommended for you , if you love contemporary or in search for a quality diverse contemporary.
