This book was so so cute! I've always loved fake-dating-scheme plots, and this book helped provide some more diversity for the rom-com scene, what isn't there to love!
Oh here it is: I hoped to relate to this book, as a POC who is also expected to date within their same culture. HOWEVER, I personally thought that the portrayal of the parents were a bit harsh, especially with the way they treated his sister who dated outside their community. Frank is also a little too aggressive towards his parents, even when they're sharing normal parent-worries with him. Also Frank has that problematic cliche where everything falls apart as soon as the truth comes about about how his parents would feel about him dating Brit. There are ways to pull off cliches, but this really isn't it.
I think the issue is that I was expecting a regular YA romcom with some discussion of race and culture, but this book really made it a conflict with the plot. I personally don't recommend it.
