I am so so very happy to say that this book has definitely lived up to its hype! Frankly In Love was a spectacular young adult novel that was so real and touching. Reading it gave me such a light feeling of hope and understanding in my heart.

Not only does this book revolve around first love, but brings to the table new elements of race and culture that I as a reader rarely ever see. David Yoon managed to create and portray this character who struggles to understand exactly what it means to live in a world where you don't quite fit in, and how love isn't as simple as they say. Being an American mix as well, I found myself connecting with Frank, the main character, on a much deeper understanding. He asked questions that I still don't really know the answer to. Frank is a main character who has such a good heart and throughout the book, you'll find yourself cheering, rooting, and crying for him.

This book's writing does seem to sound like a first book, meaning sometimes the writing is a bit iffy. It can leave out certain details or tend to linger on unimportant ones but if you can overlook that, you'll find that there are so much other good things about it. This book does use profanity and for me, it is so refreshing! Always I would read books and authors would gloss over the curse words or throw some nonsense like, "oh gooseballs!" but not David Yoon. David's writing, and use of profanities, were refreshing and had that hint of comedy throughout that no matter what left a smile on your face.
Frankly In Love has it all. The fake dating trope, friends to lovers, race in today's America, family issues, and more. One chapter I was laughing to tears, and the next those tears turned sad.

I really didn't expect to love this book as much as I did. All I can do now is tell you all, read this book. This book is marvelous and will hopefully change the way you think. When it comes out, you won't want to miss it, and you'll thank me later. Until next time! (Want more reviews? Follow me on insta @yafictionvixen)
