As a Chinese American with an immigrant mother, I've experienced some of the same frustrations Yoon discusses in this book regarding racism within the Korean community, so it certainly hit home for me. It's an important conversation we need to continue having with the older generations and something that's not often discussed publicly. I really enjoyed this coming of age story and empathized with Frank the whole way through, but I wish it had given Joy and Brit more of an identity besides "cool girl". I appreciated that the relationships' ending wasn't all rainbows and sunshine and it definitely felt realistic. There was something about the banter that was very Gilmore Girls/John Green-esque in that it was just on the edge of too witty/pithy to be realistic. Overall a fantastic addition to the YA world.
