Frankly in Love was one of most anticipated YA releases of the year and I was ecstatic to get my hands on it. It's a perfect blend of first love, fake dating, culture, identity, and family. This book had such a nuanced look at the displacement that children of immigrants often face, and the complex feelings of being divided between identities.

Although my experience is super different from Frank's, as a mixed-race person, I related so much to him feeling split between cultural identities, and feeling both too much and not enough at the same time.

David Yoon's writing is so witty & clever, and I loved Frank's voice so much! I already can't wait for David's next book. Frankly in Love is perfect for fans of To All the Boys I've Loved Before and American Panda, as well as readers who love Becky Albertalli's wit. I love that this novel balances lighthearted humor with some heavier, more complex family dynamics.
