Aside from that great title (who doesn't love a good pun?), Frankly in Love adds a much-needed voice in the YA genre. Frank, who is a second-generation immigrant living in America, feels torn between his traditional Korean ancestry/upbringing and his modern American lifestyle/mindset. This split in identity is most clearly represented by his two names: Frank Li, his English name, and Sung-Min Li, his Korean name. I am interested to read on and find out how Frank will manage to reconcile these two disparate halves. I think this is an especially important perspective for young adults to read, many of whom are still discovering and trying to define themselves.
