Looks Like Chick-Lit At First
At first look without reading the summary, this looks as though it is classic chick-lit. Reminiscent of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum novels. In my opinion, this is not a bad thing. This could draw in a reader not prone to stray from their typical/preferred genre.
However, after reading the summary I am enthralled with the cultural complications that Frank Li will have to face in a changing and yet not-so-changing American society, as well as his journey to learn who he truly is at heart.
Totally unexpected story judging by the art. Super cool bait-and-switch to suck the reader in. Well played Mr. Yoon and Penguin Teen Publishing.
