Hyphenated Americans - but YA teen romance
There's been a lot written in academic circles about the experiences of "hyphenated Americans," i.e. people who American society has assigned an ethnic "marker," whether they want it or not. It's nice to be reading about something as silly as a teen romance - kissing during lunch period! - but with a different lens than the default white. Bless nerdy wonderful Frank Li, who is really brought to life by David Yoon's frank (haha) writing style that really captures the teenage experience.
Also, lovely cover. :)
