I really enjoyed how this book started. I only read the first impressions but damn I want more. I may or may not have powered through this during my lunch break >.>.
The scene at the beginning is actually quite telling. We get to SEE the character in action, not be told she's a thief. We get to SEE that she has a mentor, not be told.
Also, we get to see how the government works from the point of view of one of the dead queens. Absolutely fantastic world building. Also, what an INTERESTING world. Like, how would anyone think that that's the right form of government? And how does it work? I mean I sort of get it, but I need more.
The writing style is great, the world building is great, and I am completely hooked for more.
