this sounded like something i was absolutely going to love. unfortunately, it really missed the mark for me. i love a murder mystery, and the added fantasy twist was super compelling and made me really excited to get to this one. and, while the mystery was compelling, nothing else about the book was good, and i didn't find the resolution to the mystery reasonable or satisfactory. the characters felt very flat, and the world felt both over-developed and under-explained, somehow. overall, i was really disappointed by this book. i wanted to so badly to love it, and i was so upset that it really didn't live up to the hype in my head. i'm unlikely to read anything else by the author, because there were really very few redeeming qualities about the book, and i would not recommend this book. this was not worth my time, in my opinion, but i would love to love something like this at some point.
