This book was incredibly hard for me to get through. I did not really care about any of the characters which made it difficult to relate to them or empathize with them. This story actually put me into a bit of a book slump because I was so bored and it took me so long to read this book even though I am a fast reader. I wouldn't recommend this one to anyone. In fact, I sold my Owlcrate and BOTM editions of this book because I really didn't even want it on my shelf. The only reason I am giving this 2 stars instead of one is because the storyline is completely unique in the world of YA queen books. I think if the author had done a bit more world building and made this a duology where we could care about one of the characters it would have made a better read.
