First, the cover and title immediately grabbed my attention. I find the cover to be intriguing with the stacked crowns. The cover art, coupled with the mysterious title, got me to dive deeper.

It was as if the writer of the description found my reading wheelhouse list and wrote it just for me. Royalty in a fictional land? Check. A female lead that's a bit scrappy and a bit criminal with a character foil of the 'perfect citizen' teaming up? Check. Alright, I'm ready. Let's go.

When I read the excerpt, I was kept engaged by the descriptive nature of the writing. I love reading a story set in a fictional land, but I can't put down a book set in a fictional land when it is described so vividly I see it clearly in my mind's eye. Then, there's the sassy dialogue.

I titled this review, "I'm ready for this book," because I am. I'm ready.
