This book captured my attention from the very beginning. I absolutely love the way the story unfolds. It continuously leaves the reader guessing. I loved the descriptions of the characters because it was easy to picture them and their personalities without too much detail. They were very well developed. The region of Quadara was also really interesting and seemed original to me. The perspectives of the four queens were also very well done. I didn't totally realize that it was a young adult novel until I was about halfway through the book. There was a point where I realized, and it wasn't a bad thing, it just wasn't what I was fully expecting. Even though it is a standalone book, it definitely left me wanting more.
