This was an amazing twisty mystery. I love Astrid Scholte’s writing and her character development. This was an engrossing story that left me wanting more. Keralie is a thief, one of the best, but one day she steals more than she bargains for. Her mentor and boss, Mackiel, instructs her to steal a canister of comm tablets from a messenger. It’s clear there’s more to this theft than Mackiel is telling her. Soon Keralie finds herself frantically trying to stop a plot that would destabilize the entire country and all four quadrants. The four quadrants used to war but found peace with four ruling queens and strict queenly laws. Each quadrant unique with wildly different people, technology, and values. Assassins, intrigue, plotting, theft this story had it all. And deeper than all of that was the search we all must take to find who we are and who we wish to be.
