I received this as an ARC. The cover is amazing. I've been wanting to read this for a long time and finally got a copy. I can't wait to get an actual copy of it! This book is certainly worth all the hype.
It was not at all what I was expecting. The title indicates the queens are already dead but they actually aren't yet. I loved the queens and their history and where they are from. They play a large role in the plot, acting as narrators throughout the book. It really helped with the world building.
I was seriously impressed with how well Quadara was built in just one book. Most take a quite few books (duologies or triologies) to build the world in which the story is based in.
Keralie was a unique narrator in my opinion. She was selfish and brash, outspoken and all the things I would generally be annoyed by but she was also charming and I started adoring her along with her and Varin's budding romance.
I truly do hope Schulte writes a series of this because I can't get enough!
