This is a fantasy set in the land of Quadara, a kingdom divided into quadrants and rolled over by four queens.

Queen Marguerite rules over the Torian quadrant, the expediter of imports and exports amongst the quadrants. Queen Iris rules over Archia, which provides crops and delivers natural resources. Queen Stessa rules over the quadrant Ludia, the land of art and beauty. Queen Corra rules over Eonia, the land of enlightenment, learning, and technology.

Although meeting a murderous end, all four queens contribute greatly to the story line, and the reader learns the secrets each of the four queens keep close.

The lives and murders of the queens weave into the mission of Keralie, the main character. At first Keralie is presented as simply an effective thief, but Keralie soon becomes involved in figuring out the mystery of what was contained in the four comm chips that she stole from Eonia.

In Four Dead Queens we get to learn about four interesting societies, we get to experience romance and betrayed love, and we peek behind the scenes of palace intrigue. My favorite part of the book was learning about the four queens.

This book is going to be a delightful read for those who enjoy new adult with a mixture of world building and mystery. It was a book that I couldn't put down because I cared about the characters imagined by Astrid Scholte.
