Four Dead Queens has been one of my most anticipated books since its announcement. The idea of blending fantasy and thriller was an instant, "please let me read this right now."

I was hooked from the beginning. Scholte creates a masterful narrative that blends multiple povs with the past, present, and future. Most of the time in murder stories, we never get to know the characters that are killed off except through memories or conversation. Scholte grants us access to the four queens who rule over Quadara along with a main character Keralie who you keep wondering as to how she'll get tied into the plot. It never feels as if the POVs are too much. Scholte's writing flows together effortlessly to create a fast paced thriller set in a fantasy genre.

Both the best and worst part of the story is knowing the fate of the Queens because you want everything to tie together but you're also hoping things will turn out differently. However, don't fret about this too much as every character involved gets what they deserve and that is beyond satisfying especially for a standalone novel.

Four Dead Queens will take you for a ride, playing with your mind just enough to keep you interested and screaming to figure out what happens next.
