Four Dead Queens is going to be a great new addition to the YA Fantasy genre. The first bit was a le slow, as many YA fantasy novels are, due to the necessary world building. Having read many YA fantasy novels, I never let a somewhat slow start deter me. And I wasn’t disappointed. The country of Quedara is broken up into four quadrants, each ruled by its own queen. In that sense, it seems a lot like the Divergent series. One of the main characters, Keralie, is a thief, known as a digger. She is essentially part of a guild that is run by her best friend Mackiel. In that sense it’s a lot like Six of Crows. Overall, though, it had its own flair. That flair makes me really want to get my hands on a copy of it!
