In just the brief first glimpse of this book, I saw a story unfolding that I am incredibly eager to continue. "Together, yet apart," is the mantra quoted by every citizen in so many of their daily interactions. It references their four queens, each leading one of the quadrants. But it also applies to the citizens themselves, though they don't seem to think about that. They're all together, yet so isolated from each other by virtue of where they're from. It's amazing how often people of a single kingdom will find ways of breaking themselves into smaller factions to separate themselves from each other! And it begs the question, who benefits from this "Together, yet apart" mentality? I can't wait to find out!
