I'm going to be honest, it was a little hard to read in the beginning and I was bored with the pov change that would happen after Kera's chapter. However, it did pick up near the end which was good and left me curious.

Makiel's betrayal didn't feel too surprising, but I'm curious to learn more about him and his past with Kera. There seems to be a mystery going on and that seems enough to get anyone's attention to what's going to happen next.

Another thing is that I was confused with the end. Was that time travel or was Kera taking a peak inside someone's memories? I think it was the latter.

The main female character is strong, witty and has a talent in theft. I love fun characters that have a need to survive yet have such an entertaining pov when inside her head. The male lead, in contrast, is a bit of a bland robot, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since messenger boy didn't appear that much. And I love development which I know he'll most likely have later in the story. That is another good thing to look forward to!

I may or may not pick up this book, but it was good enough to put on my list just in case I give in. Which is very likely for me!
