Four Dead Queens by Astrid Scholte tells us the background story of the thief, Keralie, as well as the queens. After Iris is brutally murdered, the three surviving queens become fearful of a murderer in their midst and wonder how a killer was even able to get into the palace in the first place. Keralie works with an older thief, Mackiel. Mackiel is an interesting character and he piques my curiosity. The mysterious messenger has more to tell also and the comm case seems to be more valuable than Keralie thought. When she swallows the chips, she gets more than she bargained for; the sneak peek ending is a wild cliff hanger!
